"Say Somethin', Why Don't Ya!"

Scripture Passage

Scripture Focus

Has the LORD redeemed you? Then speak out!
Tell others he has redeemed you from your enemies.
                                        (Psalm 10:2 NLT)

Observation

Okay, I really like Psalm 114, and the imagery of the Red Sea and the Jordan River not just “parting” but “fleeing” at the presence of the Lord! But the verse that really has my attention is Psalm 107:2.

Has the LORD redeemed you? Then speak out!
Tell others he has redeemed you from your enemies.
                                        (Psalm 10:2 NLT)

Somehow our culture has managed to silence believers’ testimonies. Somehow what should be the most natural thing in the world has been utterly and overwhelmingly muted. But this psalm reminds me that it ought not to be that way!

Please note—the psalm doesn’t say, “Get to that evangelism training class so you can follow the outline point by point.” The psalm doesn’t say, “Try door-to-door—Hit it early on Saturday morning while folks are most likely to still be home!” No—what the psalm says, in essence, is, “Has God done something for you? Tell somebody!”

The psalmist gives four examples of people who in circumstances of distress cried “Lord, help!” (vv 6, 13, 19, 28). In each case, God answered their cry, and that’s what they’re to speak of.

So…have you ever cried, “Lord, help!”? Did He answer? (You’re reading this, aren’t you?) Well, tell somebody!

Has the LORD redeemed you? Then speak out!
Tell others he has redeemed you from your enemies.
                                        (Psalm 10:2 NLT)
